Quick Reviews #46
House Leaving Party
So I’m at the last house I lived in before coming to North Carolina. Last time to see it off before someone else paints their lives with the blank slate. At least the wi-fi still works.
Dynamite
Space Ghost Vol. 2 #11 - The crisp pace and parallel plot structure really drive the stakes here. Not just with a boss rush of old enemies, but a legacy arc to lead up to a bigger finale. 9/10
Mad Cave
War Wolf #5 - The feeling of scratching an itch sweats out of every pore here. But so is the feeling of losing that like a phantom limb. The most engaging thing though is when something comes in to fill that spectacle. 9/10
Terrorbytes #6 - Now I really have to ask what went on behind the scenes. Cuz Mark London is the writer again. Maybe it’s the shift from social commentary of Mark Russell to reflecting on the more abstract things in science fiction. I happen to relate to the scientist in the story, to experience how alien things are despite the risk; cosmic horror as bliss. In juxtaposition with the framing story with a hostile grounded reality. 9/10
