Quick Reviews #33
Season of Change
This week features turning points to get people out of their comfort zones.
Dynamite

Space Ghost Vol. 2 #7: Layers of developing character dynamics clash in spectacular fashion. You can feel the little resentments or frustrations surface. But it’s what might happen after that will stick with people. 9/10
Mad Cave
Our Soot Stained Hearts #2: Now here is where the revolutionary take on Santa Claus shines. Visual language read in multiple ways, epic references, and a pace to encourage rereading. 9/10
Circus Maximus #3: A sound structure in conflicts and character dynamics. But while there is definitely cohesion, it feels like more characterization was needed for this climax. 8.5/10
It Killed Everyone But Me #5: It’s a satisfying ending. Just would’ve felt better as a full album. That makes the parallels happening between the pages feel more fulfilling. 8/10
Scoop Vol. 4: Just opening this felt thrilling. I’ve been following this saga for years and I’m so glad to see it could be that way. The characters are so endearing, the premise, plots, and themes are consistent and enthralling, and the payoff avoids any pitfalls because of it. 10/10
Tommy the Coward: A well presented children’s story; the pace and momentum keep a familiar plot engaging. Plus the art gives the settings as much life as the the more layered characters. 8.5/10
The Extraordinary Voyages Vol. 1: A decent plot, larger than life settings, but that’s not to its benefit with me. My eyes strained from the sensory overload. Especially when the kids are talking so much. Frankly I liked people reacting to the effects they leave better. And the best times are during the silent war scenes full of rustic looking robots. 6.5/10
