So I’m at my new house, got (most of) my stuff unpacked, got my personal work place set up, and I actually feel a little relaxed up here. But while I still have some stuff to fully settle in, I might as well give my thoughts to what people have requested me.
Mad Cave
Missing on the Moon #1: Impressive world building for an alternate universe noir with a decent mystery. But at the same time, I got a bit lost in some of the subplots that lead into the main one. 7/10
The Last Wardens #4: I was always so critical of this title’s early issues. Must have been a pacing issue. Because Dans getting more of a characterization through people other than the Wardens just feels right. Especially when the reader finds a connection between Dans and the Wardens. Driven by their responsibilities and how it clashes with everything. 8/10
Kill Train #1: A very bone chilling look at the future. The setting’s mostly a backdrop for impressive characterization of dealing with anxiety. Where despite how far you and the world have gone, things didn’t go right after peaking. Almost as if playing Russian Roulette with life. 9/10
Space Ghost
About time the MacGuffin that drove the conflict got some time to shine. Blip and his “pack dynamic” with the rest of the cast really comes through here. Especially against compelling foils of Blip with the Creature King. Better yet, it has readers go back and see if Blip really was just a plot element. With that realization as well as the overall heart that’s driven this series forward shining through, this gets a 9/10.
