Back again for another set of quick reviews. Good timing after days of being stuck sick.
Synap #1
When I see giant robots and pilots dealing with stuff, I expect to see what the giant robots are supposed to be for. Instead I get a bargain bin Evangelion prologue. Basically nothing happens except a lot of uninteresting familial drama mixed with military intrigue. The robot isn’t even done yet! The pacing is just too slow. 5/10
Space Ghost #6
That’s better. A kid coming to grips with his actions and the man he saved coming to grips for having thrown that burden onto the kid’s shoulders. It’s a compelling parallel arc about dealing with hollowness and walking on eggshells. Especially in contrast to a man who lost everything and let it define him. Admittedly, the resolution to a serious traumatic event is a bit rushed. But it still feels satisfying. 8.5/10
Damn, Space Ghost is getting real.
