Let’s start with that late piece:
Space Ghost #11: Looks like the entire series is gearing up for a big finale. Every character dynamic pushed to its limit: the gains, the breakthroughs, and all of the stress that came with it. 9/10
Now let’s go into a newcomer to this list. Not a request, I’m just a long time supporter of this truly indie series. Got a full review of the first arc on Gutternaut. I got this latest issue after always sending some money to the maker.
Joe Hero #7: How do you answer some lingering questions while giving it weight in world building? By giving it an emotional core with character dynamics. 8.5/10
Finally let’s get madder with Mad Cave now that I’m part of it manga/manhua imprint’s review newsletter.
Indigo: As a first impression for Nakama Press, this is nothing short of going big. The presentation and cosmic scale are felt on each page. It’s just that the framing device can be a bit divisive. 8/10
Flash Gordon #7: Now here’s where the real effects of the story and character dynamics meet. Along with a cliffhanger for more. 8.5/10
Gatchaman: Only One Earth #2: This is feeling more and more like what the main series should be. Great character dynamics, action presentation, intense stakes and consequences. 8.5/10
String #4: Intensity is the name of this issue. Every page feels like a standoff where everybody acts like they’re in a minefield. And the deadliest bomb is the one nobody sees. 9/10
The Hexiles #5: Never a dull moment when the occult gets you to present the plot and characters in unconventional ways. 8/10
Revolution 9 #4: Ends everything in a truly epic fashion. The story of how a cult’s arm is completely beaten. Their indoctrinations, their infighting, and using newly gained awareness to push for important changes. 9/10
