Another month of May closing. I definitely feel like I’m getting more and more stuff down. Mad Cave has given me all of their recognition. But now I gotta wonder what I wanna do with my time.

Why Does The Bitter Stuff Stick To Me?

…

There were two times when…

How do I write something like this without making it sound lazy?

Some of the worst content in my opinion is reaction content. It’s a clash of passions everyone loses themselves in. You get so caught up in emotions at their peak that…you lose what points people can enjoy.

It’s not worth it. Yet I did it twice. Not directly at them but…

It all felt like an inversion of what I was carrying on my shoulders from a time ago. Where instead of not enjoying things people could, I was isolating myself from people because I enjoyed something they couldn’t stand with a passion.

But they also forced themselves away from truths when you really look.

Where Is The Enthusiasm?

Losing touch with the little things that gave your life meaning has been in the back of my mind for a while. I feel like a broken record saying that I’ve been enjoying manga and webtoons more than I have western comics.

But I had to face facts that they have advantages that most Western comics don’t have. Less detail for sensory overload, focusing on art and impacts of specific moments, drip feed models on reading services that require timing and more. Basically more ways to engage with than a lot of ways that the Western market never bothered to pick up on.

When I was reading Batman: Off-World I had to question something. How does Batman hacking off a robot’s head with an energy chainsaw look tame?! Certain artists wouldn’t just put the robot in the forefront they would make the chainsaw blade stand out so much while Batman’s in a silhouette to show these abductors that while he’s vulnerable, he’s the…uh…HE’S BATMAN!

For crying out loud, I’m reading Dragon and Chameleon! This manga is all about how mangaka have to work to explore ways to get an audience and refine their craft. Not to mention work with the right people to deliver the best effect possible. Not only efficiently but also using certain art techniques to deliver big moments. Where were any of the cast members to assist Doug Mahnke did the art for Batman: Off-World?

With that in mind, manga feels more like pulp magazines than the superheroes they inspired with this outlook. With modern ways of reaching audiences!

Why Some Plans Take Longer

I’ve finally applied ideas I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Timeless Tales!

Timeless Tales: Regenerating the Public Domain

Welcome to Timeless Tales, an experiment in telling AI generated stories as ethically as possible. Here, we will be using public domain stories and the characters who drive them as a base but in a way that tries to appeal to what folks loved about them. Please note that for obvious reasons, you can copy and paste this anywhere and do what you want with …

Timeless Tales: Regenerating the Public Domain #2

Welcome back to Timeless Tales, where AI tells stories about characters in the public domain! Because if you’re going to use AI, use it to bring back long forgotten ideas.

Basically trying to take advantage of how characters and concepts already in the public domain are ripe for AI use. Maybe introduce readers to concepts and characters from ages ago. And how they could still live in the present.

One thing that interested me was how the Steam Man of the Prairie came to be. Asking ChatGPT to tell the story how I would like it apparently means I like events in chapter form.

But it doesn’t fill me with as much interest as other things that never seem to leave my mind.

I Hate Fairyland by

Skottie Young
and Warhammer 40k lore always seems to come out on top in comparison.

Then there’s stories I want to tell. Including that followup to my first comic that I need to raise money for. But also ones where I come up with ideas and try to go from there.

Only problem is, I’m not sure how to do it. I’ve heard of something called Notion, Scrollon, and more.

Nothing is stopping me other than anxiety and other circumstances. Most of which comes from trying to enjoy the things I have.

Including writing down ideas for various things like a post on Gutternaut proper about Impact Theory.

I just…need a focus.
