March Highlights
Delays and Plans
So this month, it was less about regular releases, and more about how the people behind publishers who share a lot with you are still human.
The Regular (Delayed) Reviews
Two times this month, Mad Cave Media Packs didn’t have the good stuff. Digital review copies of books! I’m really hoping this is because of Mad Cave’s success. But not as much as giving the people in its marketing some rest and relaxation. No point getting to enjoy that success if the people who help do it get exhausted.
…
Yes, I could do the reviews earlier! But Mad Cave’s stuff comes out on Fridays! And I have a job that can take a lot out of me most of the week! Everybody needs R&R!
Look Before You Borrow(?)
I guess it’s just a way of saying that the systems you have aren’t infallible. Neither should you ever think they are. Hoopla bonus borrows glitched on its first day and I ended up wasting all of my monthly borrows on some of their stuff before they could fix it. But I guess it was a good time to indulge in all it had to offer and not just comics. I mean, Dark Winds looks cool. Just hope I can watch all six episodes of its season in three days.
I’ll have better luck getting through Fanbase Press’ binge pass.
One thing that stood out to me in those is this: It gets hard with how much of the conflicts in some of these stories are. They feel like grounded if exaggerated anxieties on social/communal traumas. But they’re still normalizing crises, conspiracies, and alarmism.
In this day and age, it’s getting harder to engage with information without being consumed by it.
Plans For The Wire Fence
Rather than get myself emotionally drained on events reactions’ overhype, I’m moving forward on a plan of mine. Raising money for The Wire Fence: Re-Opened!
As of today, I am starting an unconventional campaign! And here is the amount of money I’ve raised so far:
My paycheck just isn’t going to be enough to cover the expenses to get the services from the first one-shot. Too many of life’s surprises. Co-pay, printer ink, Netflix Gift Cards and who knows what else?
So I’m taking a few directions to raise money. From different sources to avoid burnout. Cash-backs and money rewards from apps, gift money from relatives or bank reimbursements, and crucial to this…paid subscriptions from here!
As an added bonus, any and all paid subscribers will get digital copies of the original Wire Fence One-Shot:
Just the pages! I don’t even have proofs for my preferred cover!
Plus if this is raised to half the money needed for Re-Opened’s production in one week, I’ll make the pages of the The Wire Fence #1 in Webtoon format! I’ll even record my awkward attempts to do it! If I can find a way to do all the stuff that you can do with videos on here that is!
And if certain parties are worried I’ll lose the funding because of those surprise expenses, don’t. I’ll be putting it all into a bonds account where it will be safe and I can withdraw it when I need it!
What About?
Yeah, yeah, I’ll still be working on little things like posts on here. Not just the usual quick reviews but a post going over comic apps for phones.
And the…
I’ve got too many things to do already! I already said I didn’t wanna burn myself out!
