Alright time for what brings regulars around. Maybe I should consider-
Nah, got too much to consider with the day job. Besides comic publisher newsletters might need invites. Don’t even get me started about everything with Diamond.
Gatchaman #10: 7/10. It’s a clever twist, especially with context.
I will say that one guy is definitely going to be missed. He had more character than his co-stars because he acts, not quips.
But while some of the action was good (especially that tornado move), some of it could have been better.
Buried Long, Long Ago #2: Can’t tell what’s scarier, that monsters surround the girls all the time or that good people will get sucked into their misery. 8/10
Galaxy of Madness #10: As weird and epic as it was always meant to be. Thankfully the emotional arc holds together. 8.5/10
Pop Kill #4: As momentous and stupid as can get. Everything feels like an everlasting flavor that never goes flat. The action, unforced dialogue, character dynamics, thematic arcs, and gags that don’t lose novelty. 9/10
The Slasher’s Apprentice #2: Combines the strengths of slasher cinematography with comics’ sense of anticipation. I can’t stress this enough, but leaving only essential detail and images keeps that pace going. It brings the best surprises and killing spree thrills without missing building character dynamics. 10/10
Infini-T Force Vol. 2: 7.5/10. It’s good to see more character development but the pace starts to slow near the middle. At least the end made up for it with good comedic downtime.
Eat Your Young #1: More of a prologue than a first issue. Yet it’s got stylish art, atmosphere, dialogue, and just enough diversity in character to catch my interest. 8/10
The Architect’s Epiphany: The same creative team behind Indigo…and it’s amazing! This is the kind of world building and philosophy that makes fantasy so amazing! Sure the characters aren’t that deep but everything is held together by a central theme pushed to its limit. It gives the feel that this entire world feels alive and lived in. 8.5/10
Feel free to call me extremely biased, but I'm here for anything Mattia Monaco is drawing!
