As I spend time trying to get a “real job” and playing Unicorn Overlord, some time spent on these is always welcome.
Flash Gordon #7: Out of the frying pan and into another fire. This issue keeps the tension and action going with good characterizations. 8.5/10
Hour of the Wolf #4: Pace feels like it just picked up near the end. Good visuals, problem solving, and layouts to match. Problem is this whole thing feels like a protracted prologue. More could have been done with less. 7.5/10
Prairie Gods #5 Amarok: Atmosphere, surprises, and reexaminations of prior issues and more. It’s the weirdness that just reels you back in. 8.5/10
Spectrum #3: Still as weird and lively as ever. You get a real feel for music playing without actually being there. 9/10
Synap #3: Really pours on the effects of losing yourself to a sense of purpose. 8/10
Far Down Below #1: When you look past the 80s framing device, there’s a strong presentation that excites everyone. The characterizations, a fresh spin on a familiar setting, and more. 9/10
Past Time #1: A classic sports story gets a thrilling twist. While the structure keeps readers in, it’s the supernatural ticks that bring them back. 8.5/10
