Gotta stay consistent and I’m not totally burned out. And Mad Cave still has stuff that doesn’t put me to sleep. I finally got the review request schedule down.
Exit City #3: A plot line that has long needed an ending has been made even better. Foils, more personal stakes, and characterizations that fit that all. 8.5/10
Dark Empty Void #3: Getting the feeling of something big, unknown, and terrifying and only getting an overwhelming glimpse. It’s phenomenal, especially when looking at something cosmic through something a little more grounded. 8.5/10
Long Cold Winter #2: Getting glimpses of the past and anticipations of character defining moments engross readers with spectacular sets, illustrations, and transitions. 8.5/10
String #3: Great characterizations complement special mechanics of investigative methods. Everybody’s got layers, you just have to pull the right strings to see them. 9/10
Murder Kingdom #3: Like living on the edge of comedy and horror. Where jump-scares and commentary are gags and horror has tension. 8/10
All of the great personalities in a well presented case and plot… and a back-up that felt a bit off when put together with it. Appreciate the shared theme of nostalgia but the cohesion needed more tonal adhesion. 8/10
