I've Got Reviews Published, A Lot Of Unfinished Drafts, And I Guest Hosted A Podcast
That's A Lot!
Hey everybody,
Pardon yet another delay in the newsletter but I gotta tell people what I’m doing. So as usual I’m making reviews of what comes my way. A good chunk of the non-major stuff gets on Gutternaut while others from the likes of Mad Cave end up on Monkeys Fighting Robots.
I have a lot of drafts on Gutternaut, posts about comic locations’ closest real world equivalents, famous creators like the late Mark Gruenwald, how a couple countries have developed their comic industries, and how adaptations of Batman comics to the classic animated series and the Hit-Monkey comics into the Hulu series surpass their source material. But between all the comics I read, the breaks I need to keep to prevent breakdowns, I feel like I’m lacking incentive. Yes, this is a poorly conceived attempt to get people to at least throw a buck for a quick service.
I find that when it comes to the indie comics I’m asked to review, I feel like I’m being acknowledged part of the time. The other bits just feel like I haven’t gotten what I need out of something. Besides I get so many of them that I barely find myself motivated to go into the details to support the other pieces.
I would like to continue those posts at a later time, but I don’t feel myself motivated or disciplined enough at the time of this post.
Especially since an Op-Ed on MFR got me an opportunity to expand myself. It’s nothing groundbreaking like a desk job at some company, I just got invited to share some insights on The Comic Source podcast that’s also shared with the Comic Boom YouTube channel. Who would’ve thought that my thoughts on the Todd McFarlane Productions franchise Spawn would lead to this. I didn’t!
