Well this was bound to happen sooner or later. Monkeys Fighting Robots had some benefits, no payments or anything, but I got to publish a piece in a physical magazine and learn a thing or two. But my writing has only marginally improved with content I actually felt motivated to write about. And MFR staff’s day jobs have them overworked so they can’t devote enough time to go through everybody’s stuff unless it’s the best. Me I’ve got room to grow, but not enough to time from MFR to devote being the best writer possible.
All this means is that I’ll be devoting my energy entirely to Gutternaut material. I’ve been writing reviews for Mad Cave Studios and I’ll be moving them to Gutternaut. Hopefully I can still keep working with them, I’ve come to really like these people. I’ll definitely still be doing Valiant Entertainment reviews, one way or another. I’m just going to do it my way; no wasting time or space with multiple post on one series or arc, just one post that updates overtime.
If the publishers don’t like that, well that’s okay. It’s their material and they should get the biggest possible audience. Part of the reason I devoted putting reviews on MFR because their audience is bigger than Gutternaut’s.
All this means is that I’ll have more time to devote writing about comics I want to read rather than deal with deadlines. I’ve got a few… including some I’m going to have to put behind paywalls in regards to their content. Won’t be any of my review requests, but that’s what’s coming in May.
