Shortest months go so fast.
General Bumbling
Really gotta prioritize getting through the stuff I subscribed too. I’ve been going through GlobalComix with a focus on the most popular things I’ve got on my lists. Really hoping I get to be one of the beta testers for the app. Then there’s making room in Comixology Unlimited what with the Omnibuses I’ve downloaded. Then there’s the Hoopla App with time limits that will be open in March.
Man… between my full-time job and Gutternaut, I’ve got my hands full. Especially since I can’t read comics that haven’t been downloaded at my off work hours. It’s a security thing.
But this month I’ve also finished reading a few physical books like Marvel’s adaptations of the Oz books, illustrated by Skottie Young. Maybe now I can focus on getting through his current I Hate Fairyland run that was made in reaction to that.
Then I finished Xenozoic… (Tales) and I’m watching the TV show adaptation on YouTube called Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. It’s legal. Right now I’m on the episode that was written by New Teen Titan’s Marv Wolfman. Wish finding stuff about the arcade game was as easy.
I’ve also started reading the second compendium of Starman by James Robinson. Strangely enough I don’t find reading it physically as exhausting as reading non-Webtoon comics on my phone. I’m still only a third of the way finished on the Lee/Ditko Spider-Man omnibus and just looking at the captions make my eyes tired. Still gotta love how Ditko’s simple art stays with you, plus seeing these with the Spectacular Spider-Man show is really interesting. I mean replacing Tombstone as the Big Man over some nobody is really smart as an adaptation. Yeah just punched my nerd card.
One little milestone is adding making short videos on Adobe Premiere Rush for Instagram feeds to my skillset. Still an amateur but still. Might work out better than my lettering which got my one-shot rejected by certain publishers.
But at least I got a bright new look and a publisher to get it out in 2024. Once all of the material is settled, I’ll start developing an 8-page comic… its logo, art, lettering, but the not a cover. I plan on making this part of an anthology with at least three stories. That’ll need a cover, but not all three stories at once. Saves a little money this way.
Down To Real Business
I’m hoping I can get posts for Cadillacs & Dinosaurs ready for next month. But maybe not this week, I’m going on vacation in North Carolina near where my new house will be at. Might get some reading done.
Hopefully by next month I’ll also finish the limitations to finally get a post about John Ridley comics finished. Not a roast, because I have a feeling the titles that Marvel and DC hyped up were more publisher products than his. Especially since his GCPD series is getting better reception.
Maybe I’ll even do a post on Wonder Woman Historia like I always wanted. Might make a great George Perez tribute since it’s based on a Wonder Woman story he did.
As for the obscure stuff that made some heads turn; I’m trying to pick between Syphons and Shuriken.
Then there’re the books I want to borrow from Hoopla. What six titles should I pick? I definitely would like to continue that Astro Boy prequel. So would Astro City’s Metro Books with its third release. Hopefully Kamen Rider Kuuga gets out. It’s not being so well received by casuals but I like it enough. I might have to pick a spot for the checklists I use like Strange Academy just to finish Skottie Young. Or at least get closer to finishing it since I Hate Fairyland is still ongoing. Maybe the Bonus Borrows can at least be something good.
Because as I’ve recently got from a Comic Drake video. Sometimes for the sake of your sanity, if something bores or annoys you too much it’s better to read a summary.
At least Syphons is pretty good. I will do what Linkara could not EVENTUALLY!
It looks like Daniel Freedman has a bigger grasp on my attention though.
And Action Lab once I finish Seamus The Famous I got from a Comic-Con. Even when I brought it up with that comic’s creator he wasn’t too excited to hear about that company. Sorry MonkeyBrain, you’re gonna have to wait.
What I Do In February Anyway?
As for posts they’re all here:

See You In March
A pretty productive February. I’m feeling things are ready to progress a little more smoothly.
