I wonder how many times I write these about dreams with bits that actually stick with me that I’ll become lucid. Honestly, I’m writing these because they’re the most notable thing that happen to me in my mundane life. And I’m trying to connect with people with these posts.
In the dream I see Aquaman and his wife Mera. But every other hero like Superman, Batman, etc. have vanished and people are panicking or just worried. Aquaman with his telepathy, can feel their concerns and wants to help where he can. Mera is reluctant to do this. Probably because Arthur doesn’t have quite the same way to reach out to people the way Superman or Batman does. But I think Aquaman knows this and was going to try anyway. And that telepathy I mentioned, I think he has more than a few ways to do it.
It’s weird to think about with circumstances about the day and night before. I mean before I went to bad I watched a Solar Opposites Halloween Special and the first quarter of the new Hellraiser movie. Both really good at playing to their IPs respective strengths on trying hilariously to fit in and how the pain pleasure/dynamic can affect others.
Not only that, I ate a lot of meals protein with shrimp, ground turkey, beans, lettuce I need to finish soon, rice, and grass-fed burgers. Along with squats and aerobics on a full body vibration machine several times. Didn’t even get the itching sensation I did when that normally happens.
As for the dream, as I was writing this post I felt kind of inspired. I’ve been facing a bit of an uphill battle when it comes to perceptions. I’ve heard the criticisms of people being tired of superheroes to the point where most conversations about them are between nostalgic fans waiting for something better and casuals or outsiders finding them a waste of time and money.
As for me, while I’ve found shows and movies that lacked in quality at times, in the comics I’ve found superhero stories that I couldn’t look away from. From Marvel and Al Ewing’s Ant-Man mini-series ending on a satisfying dynamic tributing the title mantle and Marvel Comic conventions, to the many titles I’ve found on GlobalComix like American Dreams, AWA’s E-Ratic and the Resistance, and Merc Publishing’s Deadpool-like Deathrage. Can’t forget about Astro City or The Mighty that changed publishers to Image Comics either.
I always find a reason to enjoy superheroes in one form or another. And I think people want more great stories from the people who produce them. The only problem being… I’m going to ramble with that.
In any case, after a pretty mundane day like yesterday, it was kind of nice to wake up to that kind of dream. A hero with a divisive reputation tries to fill in for his counterparts, practically embracing everything that makes him a superhero.
Did any of you have a dream that practically inspires you to start your day?
